I started by just taking photos for fun at a very young age on disposable cameras. Eventually I convinced my parents to let me use my mom's Kodak "point and shoot" on a family trip. By the time we returned I had taken more photos of buildings and people on the street than ever before. I've loved architecture and street photography ever since! Turn me loose in a new city and I'll be in my happy place - shooting the amazing architecture and observing the daily life of interesting people. I did get my own DSLR a couple years later, and couldn't put it down. I was always shooting friends, pets, or taking self portraits. I love setting the camera up and just getting to goof off a little while no one else is around and seeing what kind of fun images I can create.
After shooting photos professionally for a few years, I began to get curious about videography. I started shooting music videos for my band at the time, then a few years later I was hired as a wedding videographer. That's where I really was put through the paces - learning how to trust my instincts and get a shot of the moment before it's gone. A few more years passed and I began to branch into the world of movie making. I've had short films in a number of festivals all over the country, and filmmaking has become one of my favorite passions. Whether it be operating the camera, helping direct, going on a location scout, or writing scripts - I find it all to be so much fun!
There once was a time that I thought music was dumb. It seemed like such a waste of time to my young 9 year old brain. How naive! Not even but a few years later and I would be in the throes of adolescence, holding on, ever so dearly, to songs of my youth. Today my music taste is all over the map, much like my travel history! Throw my music on shuffle and you will find classics like the Beatles, ABBA, and CCR, meshing perfectly with more modern artists like The Lumineers, Mac Miller, and Dua Lipa, and then easing into more eclectic selections such at Mazzy Star, Bring Me The Horizon, and Teenage Wrist. I bring my wide taste into any music project I am a part of. Whether that be my more recent modern-grunge project Janie In The Backseat, the more pop/electric Salem Blue, or my country/rock band The Hideouts.
